Jersey City, New Jersey-based Mana Contemporary is a cultural center with linked branches in Chicago and Miami. It was established in 2003. The facility opened its doors in May 2011 and was designed by Moishe Mana, the founder of a moving firm. The artist Yigal Ozeri is one of the co-founders of the organization.
One million square feet of space has been rented in a brick former manufacturing building in Jersey City’s Marion Section near Marion Junction. Which also serves as an extension of Moishe’s Moving Systems’ fine arts transportation department. The facility was built in the 1920s and is located in the city’s Marion Section near Marion Junction.
In 2021, Eugene Lemay, the Executive Director of Mana Contemporary, was put on administrative leave after his arrest on tax fraud and conspiracy charges. It is for dodging the payment of roughly $8 million to the Internal Revenue Service while working for Moishe’s Moving Systems. Check this out.
The center offers services, locations, and programming for artists, collectors, curators, performers, students, and members of the general public, among other things.
In addition to the Middle East Center for the Arts (MECA), the International Center of Photography and Magnum Foundation archives, as well as the dance companies of Karole Armitage and Shen Wei, as well as foundations established by Eileen S Kaminsky (ESKFF) and Carole Feuerman, the building houses a variety of other organizations. For example, Amy Sherald is a visual artist who has a studio in Mana (NJ). The Richard Meier Model Museum, an exhibition of architectural projects, sculptures, and collages by Richard Meier, is also housed in the building, which is open to the public.
Mana Contemporary’s scattered institution is constructed on the foundations of cultural facilities in Jersey City, Chicago, and Miami, among other cities. This organization’s purpose is to honor the creative process while also assisting artists and acting as a link between creative centers all around the globe.
Mana Contemporary, a worldwide community dedicated to mutual support and progressive thinking, delivers world-class exhibits, residencies, career development, and discourse in person and online via a global network of progressive thinkers.
